Throughout the history, people have been mesmerized by the life in underwater, and according to some of the professional divers association there are now over 10 million active divers worldwide.
Most of the divers learn to explore the sea beds and see how striking the views at the bottom of the sea. Divers also attached themselves in many different kinds of diving. Kinds of diving are wreck diving, cave diving, scuba diving and commercial diving.
Usually scuba diving is a form of a sport and recreational diving; it is practiced from at the depths of less than 130 ft (39 meters). In order to sustain the diver's breath and be able to stay at the bottom of the water for a long time they wear a special type of equipment.
Scuba diving was derived from "self contained underwater breathing apparatus". To become a professional scuba diver it is better to attend seminars and special class about this sport, this way you will learn how to be a responsible scuba diver. You will also learn how to use the equipment properly, defense method and ocean consciousness preparation.
If you are a beginner, better practice first in a shallow water or if not in the pool/river. In this process you will learn the basics in diving. Ocean scuba diving for beginners is very dangerous because water temperature and pressure are different compared to shallow water.
Depending upon the temperature and air pressure of the water, divers pass through different depth of the water. If the situation is dangerous it will be safe not to dive without proper guide from the professional.
Scuba diving is a very good leisure because as you dive you will learn how to love nature and explore its beauty. Some of the divers go very deep to observe and study coral reefs, sharks, whales, dolphins, sea beds and soils, turtles and more of marine creatures.
Risks and Security Measures for scuba diving
Risks are accompanied in scuba diving; just imagine breathing air from the pressure of underwater. Not only that some of the marine animals are also cause hazards like shark, poisonous sea urchins, piranhas, and some of the harmful water animals.
Another main risk of scuba divers encounters is air pressure related accidents. Decompression sickness injury (often called "bends") also happens when the diver failed to ascends too quickly, or he dives in very deep water for a very long period of time.
If the diver stays very long at5 the bottom of the water, the body tend to absorbs all the nitrogen. The longer he stays at the bottom of the water, the more the nitrogen the body absorbs. The effect of too much nitrogen inside the body is very harmful. Nitrogen makes a tiny bubble inside the diver’s main bloodstream and skin tissues. If the diver’s failed to get out of the water quickly, the nitrogen bubbles remain trapped at the skin and blood steam of the body. As a result of this it can cause a painful effect for all the joints and organs of the diver. Severe cause of this accident can be fatal.
Other risk inbuilt in scuba diving are the following; breathing contaminated air, being injured inside the boat, running out of air and sprained ankle.
Professional diving course are very important in order to avoid this problem. By means of this you can also help in giving first aid to your fellow divers.
